Yes. Thank you. I'm a member patient in the Muscular Dystrophy Clinic at the Medical University of South Carolina, so we are up to date. No trials. I took DNA tests however. I have physical and occupational therapy at home..I use only a walker this far. I'm lucky to be alive at 83. Thank you for your input. Diane Scher, Charleston SC

Try asking your doctors, if you truly want to participate in a Study head to a local University. That way you could potentially be studied as I find it likely they would want to considering how little public knowledge and research there is on the types of MD. Personally I was asked during a checkup on my bodys condition if I would be interested to draw blood for analysis in a Study at the Uni of Würzburg but nobody is able to tell me what I have actually anyhow. (You may be able to tell this greatly frustrates me)

Are there clinical trials for FSHD that accept participants at age 83?

The search results mention a recent clinical trial for an investigational drug called del-brax, which tested 39 adults with FSHD. However, specific age eligibility criteria aren't provided in the available information.

Clinical trials typically have specific age requirements that vary by study. At 83, eligibility would depend on:

- The specific trial's age cutoff requirements
- Overall health status
- Heart and breathing function
- Ability to participate in study procedures

A larger study called the FORWARD trial is being planned to test del-brax in more people worldwide, but details about age eligibility haven't been released yet.

To find current trials and their specific requirements, it's best to:

- Check ClinicalTrials.gov and search for "FSHD" or "facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy"
- Contact the FSHD Society or Muscular Dystrophy Association for trial information
- Speak with a neurologist who specializes in FSHD about appropriate trial options

They can help identify studies that might be a good fit based on individual circumstances and health status.
