It sounds like you're navigating a really frustrating situation, especially when trying to get the documentation you need. When it comes to muscular dystrophy, getting a proper diagnosis and the right paperwork is so important for disability claims.

Here are some steps that may help you get the documentation you need:

- Contact your previous hospitals or clinics directly and request copies of your medical records. You have a legal right to access them, and they can reprint records even if you've lost yours.
- Ask your primary care provider (PCP) to help coordinate your records and refer you to the right specialists.
- See a neuromuscular specialist — this is a neurologist with specific training in muscle and nerve conditions. They can evaluate you, provide a formal diagnosis, and generate new documentation.
- Ask about a care coordinator or social worker at your care center — they can help you navigate insurance, paperwork, and finding the right providers.

For your prosthetic boots, contact the provider or manufacturer directly — they often keep purchase and fitting records on file that could substitute for a lost receipt.

Reaching out to a patient advocacy organization for muscular dystrophy may also connect you with resources to help with disability claims.
